The gender pay gap remains a persistent issue across industries, demanding careful analysis and interpretation of data to drive meaningful change. We can use Power BI to shed light on the disparities and advocate for gender equality in the workplace.

As the data had already been cleaned and filtered, potential bias and limitations were accounted for. I then used statistical calculations, such as averages or medians, to understand the overall pay gap. I also segmented the data by relevant factors like job level, industry, or geographic location to uncover deeper insights and identify patterns.

Visualisations are crucial in effectively communicating the findings and engaging the audience. It was important to select appropriate chart types that best represent the data and convey the intended message. Bar charts, line graphs, scatter plots, or heat maps can effectively illustrate gender pay gap trends and comparisons.

Colour coding and annotations would be useful to highlight the disparities in earnings between genders. The gaps can be emphasised through contrasting colours or stacked bar charts to represent the differences visually.

Making use of filters, slicers, or drill-down options will enable users to delve deeper into specific segments or periods of interest. It would be important to use titles and captions to help guide the viewer and provide clear explanations.

Visualisations will act as the centrepiece of communicating the gender pay gap findings, so must be accompanied by clear explanations and key takeaways. The messaging and level of detail need to be based on the target audience, which would be business owners, government officials or the general public.
